Casual Elegance…

9/12/22

Our next stop is a charming town just north of Palm Beach County named Hobe Sound. Hobe Sound is right across the intracostal from the famous Jupiter Island, where celebrities like Tiger Woods and Celine Dion have built sprawling estates that would make even a sheik grin with approval.

The Grove Cucina & Wine is just a skip and a jump from the island, located on Bridge Road. The restaurant was founded in 2019 by the wine jedi Luis Reyneri and his wife, Jen Reyneri. Luis is a decorated wine veteran who has run programs all over the world, including the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas. He is an Advanced Sommelier and a certified IWP (Italian Wine Professional). In fact, if you go in for dinner service and order and interesting Italian bottle, the chances are pretty high that Luis will come over and enthusiastically chat with you about your selection.

Since the restaurant’s inception, Luis has steered The Grove into multiple industry accreditations. The Grove was chosen for the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence in 2020 and again in 2021. Luis and Jen were also awarded Diner’s Choice for Best Food from Open Table in both 2021 and 2022.

The Grove offers a monthly wine club that takes it’s members on an amazing wine journey through the (mostly) overlooked growing regions of Italy. Sure, they serve Brunello and Amarone. But, how about a bottle of Sagrantino from Umbria or an aged Aglianico from Campania?

Luis and Jen are changing things up in Hobe Sound. Stop by for dinner and you’ll see just what we mean! The food is fantastic and the ambiance is Florida casual, yet quite elegant. Maybe it's the hand- strung cafe lights outside and Bocelli playing in the backround?

Just lovely all around.

Hidden Gems.

9/4/22

There are a lot of beautiful things about Palm Beach County that keep snowbirds flocking down from up north year after year. Our beaches, fantastic weather... golf anyone?

And, in the last few years, we have seen a blossoming restaurant scene along our coasts, to boot. But, what about our wine culture?

People rarely talk about the wine shops of Palm Beach County. Today, we will to focus on a wine shop that’s changing the game- Via Proxy in Tequesta, Florida.

You probably haven’t heard of it, but there is a quaint little town north of Jupiter called Tequesta, on the very northern edge of Palm Beach County. Located in the heart of Tequesta (Gallery Square), Via Proxy has been quietly growing it’s roots.

The proprietors, Brian and Tish, are both Certified Sommeliers. They are single- handedly pushing the town of Tequesta and the neighboring communities to a new level of sophistication by introducing them to quality wines from around the world, one wine club membership at a time.

Just like any other wine shop, Brian and Tish would be happy to help you purchase a bottle of champagne for your special occasion. BUT, I have no doubt they would probably also politely push you to purchase a bottle of Sekt, (a fantastic German sparkling wine made from Riesling). Or, gasp, a bottle of un-filtered natural wine made in the ancestorial method.. Which, if you haven’t tried, is certainly something to check off the bucket list...

Via Proxy offers weekly private tastings, pairing dinners and a monthly wine club called "The Loop" that offers it’s members the ability to taste unique wines they have never heard of at a fantastic value.

Most of the time, wines are better than the people behind them. But, at Via Proxy, the people are better than the wines. And the wines are spectacular!
